All Mod Cons - Kitchen Reno Pros and Cons

Dual Dishwashers, Plumbed Fridges, Flexi Hoses and Water Filters

Are you trying to decide which modifications to make during your kitchen reno? Maybe you want a new fridge or a dual dishwasher for a busy household. Perhaps you’re considering using different types of hoses to navigate pre-existing cabinetry that’s difficult to take apart (or that you’ve fallen in love with and don’t want to destroy).

I’m Joe Rantino, and my team are the experienced renovation plumbers Sydney homeowners rely on for expert advice and quality kitchen renos. We’ve been plumbing mod cons in Sydney homes for more than two decades.

We understand how disappointing it is to have your renovation plans scuppered by complex plumbing issues you weren’t expecting. So, if you have some improvements in mind, these pros and cons will help you weigh up if it’s worth it.

Dual Dishwashers

Pros

  • - saves money on water bills by running the dishwasher less often

  • - use one drawer at a time to conserve water

  • - run each drawer simultaneously but on different cycles to wash items in each drawer on preferred settings

Cons

  • - installation is more complex than for regular dishwashers

  • - dishwasher plumbing problems can happen in just one unit or both-

  • - some dual dishwasher models can’t accommodate larger items due to smaller unit sizes

  • - larger families may not see the water-saving benefits of dual dishwashers.

Plumbed Fridges

Pros

  • - built-in water and ice dispenser provides instant cold water and ice

  • - perfect for summer

  • - eliminates the need for re-filled water jugs

  • - provides more fridge-freezer space as ice trays and water jugs are no more!\

Cons

  • - more expensive than traditional fridges

  • - may increase water bills

  • - water filtration system requires professional plumbing appliance installation.

Flexi Hoses

Pros

  • - made from braided wire which makes them less susceptible to damage

  • - offer a better water pressure rating than traditional hoses

  • - tap sets with a flexi hose can be used as a sink-cleaning mechanism.

Cons

  • - some flexi hoses can be prone to rusting, so hose connections should be checked frequently to prevent a leak

  • - installing extra stop valves on each flexi hose can prevent water leaking from breaks, but it can also lead to a more expensive plumbing installation cost.

Water Filters

Pros

  • - provides fresh, clean water directly from your tap

  • - filtered water reduces the risk of illness from contaminated water.

Cons

  • - can have high installation costs

  • - may reduce water pressure

  • - filters require changing every 3 to 6 months which must be factored into the budget.

Protect Your Investment

Modern kitchen appliances can enhance the functionality of your kitchen space and elevate the aesthetics, too. But often, they’re not cheap. To ensure optimal operation and prevent voiding the warranty, opt for professional appliance installation in Sydney.
