Pound Paws celebrates World Dog Day at The Sheaf

Pound Paws is teaming up with The Sheaf to celebrate World Dog Day with the ultimate paw-ty in Sydney's East.

Locals and dog lovers can be treated to a variety of paw-some activities, with a mission to raise awareness about the importance of choosing to adopt instead of shop.

Pound Paws Dog Day at The Sheaf is an event collaboration between Pound Paws and The Golden Sheaf. The event is proudly run by Pound Paws with a mission to raise awareness about pet adoption in the local community. Coming along on the day with some of their pooches in need of a forever home will be a variety of dog rescue groups located in NSW. By hosting these Dog Day events, it allows rescue groups to connect with potential adopters and find a potential home for their rescue dogs, as well as raise much-needed funds.

Brittany Bloomer, the founder of Pound Paws, says “We’re so excited to be back again, hosting our second Dog Day event at The Sheaf for 2022, following on from the success of our event earlier this year. We are grateful for this opportunity to create an event for the community, to not only support local rescue groups, but further educate the public about responsible pet ownership”.

The event will take place in The Golden Sheaf’s dog-friendly Beer Garden with guests entering the event via Kiaora Laneway, a well-known hot spot for dog owners, to sip coffee and enjoy the Double Bay lifestyle with their pooches.

Blake Hughes, The Golden Sheaf General Manager shares “It’s an absolute pleasure to support Pound Paws throughout the years at The Golden Sheaf. The collaboration for us is a natural fit to not only support the Pound Paws message of adopt don’t shop, but also let our local community know we are dog friendly and proud of it.”

Dog lovers and owners will be treated to a variety of pet market stalls, covering everything from dog accessories, organic treats to pup paw-traits. To complete the paw-some day, there will be live entertainment, ranging from live acoustic music, a Rescue Dog Adoption Parade, educational chats on how to be the very best owner, paw-tini's and even doggy tarot card readings! Dr Geoff Golovsky will also be there on the day, sponsoring the event and providing an educational Q&A Session about pet health. Woollahra Council will also be providing free microchip checks on the day.

Don’t have a dog? No problem, there will be dogs available for adoption from a variety of dog rescue groups around NSW - there will be plenty of opportunities to find a fur-ever friend.

Is your pooch a su-paw star? Then get them up on stage to strut their stuff in front of a panel of VIP celebrity judges including Real Housewives of Sydney starlet, Christa Billich and Woollahra Mayor Susan Wynne to name a few! Here they’ll be judging the dogs best costumes or tricks, for the dogs to go in the draw to not only make their fur-parents proud but win some seriously cool prizes too!

Pound Paws is an Australian based charity founded by Brittany Bloomer that provides a modern online approach to the rehoming of pets in Australian pounds and rescue centres. They operate via an online search engine that allows users to search for their dream pet in pounds and rescue centres across Australia.
